Pain
Statement:" We spend our lives trying to avoid it, and, from one point of view, what we call "happiness" may be just the absence of pain. Yet it is difficult to define pain, which may be dull, shooting, throbbing, imaginary, or referred. We have many pains that surge from within as cramps and aches. And we also talk about emotional distress as pain. Pains are often combined, the emotional with the physical, and the physical with the physical." - Diane Ackerman
I wanted my piece to encompass the aspect of how deep pain is felt throughout the soul. How raw and unfiltered it feels. The grabbing of the heart symbolizes the physical aspects of pain by the hand clenching around the heart, and the outlined bleeding heart symbolizes the emotional level of pain. Emotionally as if your heart is aching and bleeding. As well as physically with the pain radiating throughout your whole being.
